For the majority of the porn webmasters their vision of what makes a good porn model is a leggy blonde with a tiny waist and implants. While it is certainly true that a great number of the surfers are looking for this type of woman, it is equally true that there are also a large number who are looking for the exact opposite. This is clear from the growing success of what is known as the BBW niche. However, as with any niche success will be hard to come by if you don't have an understanding for the niche. Similar to straight webmasters trying to pull of running gay sites without knowing anything about the gay community.
The world of the BBW is the one which I know best. This is mostly because I am a BBW and a BBW model (been in a few magazines and have my own amateur site) as well as being a smut merchant.. The other side of my online identity is as BBWJayne . I'm not tooting my own horn when I say that I am very close (wink wink, nudge nudge, know what I mean?) with some of the most influential people in the BBW/fat sex community. So, I do know what I am talking about.
One of the most important parts of understanding any niche is to learn the terminology and use it properly. Phrases that outsiders don't understand are everyday words inside the community. Just like any other preference or fetish, if you use it wrong then it will show. The first term that I would like to clarify is BBW. BBW does *not* stand for Big Busty Women. I can't tell you how many time I have surfed sites which claim to be genuine BBW sites and have seen that blatant error. In fact, BBW stands for Big Beautiful Woman. The term comes from a fashion magazine called BBW. The magazine coined the phrase as it was the first magazine of its type for large fashion. In the late eighties the term was adopted by a few BBS systems and online chat areas and it became the catchall phrase for a community where fat women are the most desired of all women. Don't fool yourself into stereotypes. This is a vast community - go to AOL any night and look through the member chat rooms and count the number that have BBW in the title - and therefore a vast customer base.
Another term that is important to learn is FA. FA stands for fat admirer and this is the term for the men who are attracted to BBWs. Therefore, these are also the men surfing the BBW porn sites. Without knowing what these guys like about bigger women how can you sell to them? FA's are a diverse bunch. Not every guy that is into fat chicks is into the biggest of the big. In the BBW/FA community there are definitions of women of various weights.
The most commonly used terms as follows:
Plumpers: These are women that the people in the BBW world actually consider to be thin but that most of you would classify as chubby. Over 150lbs buy under 200.
BBW and midsized BBW: I am grouping them together here for porn purposes but in the BBW world they are two different things. Midsized it between 200 and 250 and a 'normal' BBW is between 250 and 300. These are the average BBW.
Supersized BBW: There is always a running debate in the community as to where supersized starts but most agree to above 300 and then there is no limit. If you see pics of those really really big women - the ones that look like they might have mobility problems - then they are supersized.
BHM: This is a term that isn't used that much in BBW porn but is used often in the community. It stands for Big Handsome Man and is basically the straight male version of a BBW.
In addition to knowing the different types of BBWs it is also useful to know terms that reference sexual practices that are pretty much exclusive to the community.
A few of these terms are as follows:
Feeding: A very controversial area of fat sex (sometimes called weight gain fetish) that does have a big ( no pun intended) following. Amongst people in the community there is very little middle ground on this. Either you love it or think its evil. I am personally on the evil side but regardless it is a HUGE fetish.
What is it? Basically it is feeding (sometimes forced) your partner and making them fatter. You have pics of BBWs eating? This is what they are catering for.
Those of us who don't like it think it is highly unhealthy to gain or lose weight quickly. Be happy with what you are..don't let anyone try to change you. Wether its to make you skinny or to make you fatter.
Feeder: The person doing the feeding. Usually Male.
Feedee: Person, usually female, who is being fed.
Again, the reason for the glossary is that if you don't understand your subject then how can you sell it? By knowing these terms you can also understand why it is important to match your banners to the type of BBW you have in your content.
If you have content of a plumper don't use a banner with a supersized woman in it. Same thing if you have a supersized woman don't use a plumper. A lot of guys that are into to the supersized women are ONLY into the supersized women. If it doesn't have a huge belly and a big bum they really don't want to know. A banner with a plumper would have the same effect as having a teen banner.
Another issue that I feel needs to be addressed is the way in which BBW models are treated by the webmasters. My concern doesn't only come out of my personal feelings about not being abused but it is also better for your bottom line. In short: do not insult the women in your gallery.
I appreciate that most of you don't find us fat women attractive. That's fine, you can't force an attraction. However, remember that there are thousands and thousands of men that are ONLY attracted to big women. Its not a sickness its a preference.
Don't belive me? I go to a small BBW dance club in London that gets hundreds of men each time and there is a club in NYC that gets thousands every week. Every year there are two BBW conventions in the United States. One in Las Vegas and one in Philadelphia and each one of them is attend by hundreds of people each time.
These men love these women. They do not want to see people calling them pigs and cows or calling them ugly. There is always the odd surfer that is looking at it as a freak show but they aren't the ones that are going to stay on and turn into rebills. A good number of these surfers want to see that they are not the only ones. They want to be made to feel normal because for many of them its almost like coming out of the closet because of the reaction they get from their friends when they admit that fat women drive them crazy with lust.
I have had my best response when I gush over a model. In order to do this though you need to know what FA's like about BBW bodies.
A brief and very germanised run down:
Plumper men: They will call their women, cuddly or full figured. They most commonly like big boobs and bums. They want 'something to hold on to'.
BBW/Midsized men: These guys like boobs like every other BBW guy but they also like big bellies (personal note: thank GOD for these men!), heavy thighs and seriously big bums. Love handles are an asset not a fault! They like to hear about things bulging and about big natural tits. They also sometimes like to hear about how these are 'real women' and how they aren't skinny little teens like found everywhere else on the net.
Supersized men: They just love everything big. They want to know that this is as big as it gets. The sponsor has the biggest women on the net, etc. I can not stress how loyal men who are into supersized women are to their type of woman. They don't stray from that type very often. There seems to be a number of these type of men who are also a bit submissive so if that is thrown into the language of your site a bit it can really pay off. Not too heavy on the sub stuff unless you have the content to support it but it has worked well for me.
Before I go on to picking your sponsors and where to buy content, here are my top quick tips:
- Match the type of BBW in your content to your banners.
- If you have content of a BBW eating play up to the feeding fetish..find a banner with a BBW eating. I know Cashquest's Fat Girls has a couple of women eating bananas and stuff.
- Do not insult the model. Treat them like the goddesses the men think they are.
- Take a look at your sponsors main page. Try to match the type of BBW on the main page to your content. Just like the banners, if you send traffic from a supersized gallery to a page that only has plumpers on it don't be surprised if it doesn't sell.
- Learn the terminology and use it properly.
- Know what other niche's crosses over with this niche. BBW traffic will often bite on mature sponsors too. So, I usually add a text link at the end of my BBW galleries that leads to a mature sponsor just incase they didn't like my BBW sponsors. Plumper traffic will often do the same with big tit sponsors.
- If fat women really disgust you then don't do the sites and galleries. It will show.
Content and Sponsors
Having been living and working in this niche for a number of years, I thought I would also share my tips on my favourite sponsors and content resources.
Content:
XPhotography - Quality Amateur Content. CD's & Instant Downloads starting under $20. Amongst their other content they offer a good range BBW models from plumpers to supersized and even mature BBWs.
Garill Publishing - In my opinion one of the secret gems of the content business. They have a few plumper models and a BBW model. I particularly like their fetish and interracial BBW shoots. Also, a large selection of big tit and mature content for the crossover traffic.
Tasbabes BBW Content - I like Tasababes BBW content because it looks like it was shot by someone who is into BBWS. In addition the number of outdoor and public flashing sets are one of their best features.

SIC Cash - Sich Cash's site Big Fat Porn has been converting well for me lately. I particularly like the use of supersized BBWs on their splash page.
Gramma Cash - Gramma is the queen of mature sites but she also has a BBW site. Just like her mature sites she doesn't offer a trial signup to the surfer. Due to this I have had rebills that have lasted over a year.
ARS - As usual ARS comes through with winning sites. Fat Fantasies has been constantly converting for while but I also find their other BBW related sites to be useful. In particular, Grannies and Fatties shows that they know the niche and its crossover traffic.
Maximum Cash - Big and Plump has been doing better and better. The women on their splash page are midsized BBWs so the site converts plumpers traffic in particular.
Cashquest - Cashquest was the first sponsor I ever signed up for and I am still promoting them everyday. Cashquest has two sites for the BBW niche. Fat Girls Is one of the oldest BBW sites on the net and is still going strong. Erotic BBW is a unique companion site. It is unique because it is more of a magazine for the BBW community than another photo site. When surfers buy a membership to one they get access to both which makes it easy to sell to the surfer.
