GO BACK!
Alternative Markets
It is well known that targeted traffic boosts sales. Many webmasters know the basics when
it comes down to different niches: Amateur, Teen, Softcore, Ebony etc...
Unfortunately there are some niches out there that are not only little understood,
but also the traffic for these niches are not being utilized properly. A
lot of webmasters out there simply choose to avoid promoting these niches
altogether. I believe that part of that comes from being uneducated about
these niches. But by taking the small amount of time it takes to learn more
about these areas of the adult business you could greatly increase your
income and your traffic! This article is meant to be a stepping stone in
that direction.
So what are these alternative niches I keep referring to? Well, as some
of you may have guessed, I am talking about Gay, Lesbian, and Male sites(for
women). There are many different specifics about each one of these niches,
lets use the Lesbian niche as an example: Lesbian surfers looking for Lesbian
pictures would not be interested in clicking on an ad that has a man on
it, or even an ad that has a male with two women. Because while most men
may fantasize about two women, Lesbians looking for Lesbian content would
be totally turned off by that.
Just like any other niche, you must target
your traffic to something your traffic has an interest in. You wouldn't
try to sell teens to someone looking for granny pictures, just like you
should never try to sell straight ads to gay surfers. This of course is
only stating the obvious, there is much more to getting these niches to
sell. You should know the specific niches within the general niches. Such
as Twinks, Leather etc...for the Gay niche; or Bondage, Masochist, BDSM
etc..for the Fetish niche. Know the terms, and the "sub-niches" and you
will improve your sales that much more by doing something so simple.
You
should also know how to talk to the people you're trying to sell to. Text
and ads directed towards women, for example, should be appealing to women.
Therefore words derogatory towards women(such as slut, cum guzzling whores
etc...you get the picture) or ads that depict men treating women poorly
more than likely won't bring in too many sales. Some women may be into that,
but generally speaking, the results wouldn't be too great.
Do some research,
visit other sites or talk to people you may know that are interested in
these niches to get an idea of how you should speak to the surfer. Learn
what pushes all the right buttons for them, "get inside of their head" so
to speak. Both your sales and your traffic are sure to increase and perhaps
may even exceed your expectations.
Some people might think this is too much
to go through just to try to "make a few sales" sadly, these people will
be the ones missing out. Research is required for any business and if you
want to succeed in this area of the porn industry then you must treat it
like the business that it is. You wouldn't expect a lawyer to step into
court not knowing anything about the case or the client that he's representing.
He would come off looking rather silly in court. And in much the same way
some webmasters that do attempt to promote these niches (even though they
are uneducated about them) also come off as looking silly. It is obvious
to the surfers that these people don't know what they're talking about.
This is why it's so important to learn these things.
Another reason promoting
these niches would be well worth while is because it's traffic is virtually
untapped. The surfers interested in these niches are not as use to advertising
techniques and such that the mainstream surfers are use to. Not to mention
that there isn't as much competition in promoting these niches as there
is with mainstream sites. This means that you have a better chance at getting
sales from them because they haven't seen the ads a million times. And because
sites for these niches are harder to find than mainstream sites they are
in demand. Though any site catering to these niches would do well, websites
with fresh content dealing with these niches would do even better! Which
would be true of any niche of course, fresh content is always a traffic
booster.
You can also go to other webmasters for help. Webmaster resource
sites are a great place to find what ever help you may be looking for! Not
only do these sites have information for you to look through, but most of
them provide a message board for you to ask any specific questions you may
have. These message boards are also a good place to meet other webmasters
that are more than happy to help you succeed.
So now you have a basic understanding
of what it takes to learn how to make these niches sell. Your determination
to make this work for you and the time you spend learning will determine
how profitable this will be for you. There are many ways of reaching this
goal, I have offered some of them in this article. One important thing that
should be remembered is that there is a lot of money to be made with these
niches, they are indeed worth promoting, and should not be treated any "less"
than any other niche. The wemasters that realize this will be the ones that
profit from them.
